Greece - July 2000

We flew out of Gatwick airport on the evening of 4th June. Jon was as sober as can be expected in these instances, and happily for him, he fell asleep on the plane and didn't wake til the plane had touched down in Zakinthos! There was a short bus ride to our apartments, the Two Brothers in Kalamaki, and we then managed to get a little more sleep. Below are some views from our apartments.

The apartments were basic, but nice. The pool was cool and inviting, and they served a superb cheese 'n' garlic pizza in the snack bar :-)  They also owned a few pets, including the cutest lil' kitty you ever did see.

Zakinthos is famous for its turtles and, between the months of June and October, the females come onto the beach at Kalamaki to lay their eggs. Although we made attempts to see the turtles swimming, we ended up disappointed (Jon saw one for about 1 second as it swam under our peddlo). The kool turtle pix below are from postcards :-)
