After we had seen the museum in the afternoon, we went back to the hotel to freshen up, then out with the group for a "traditional greek" meal. It was a fun evening, dispite the food being far from "traditional". We met up with another couple, the girlfriend of whom went to college with a workmate of Jon's - which was quite a coincidence :-)

The next morning, we got up early for our tour of the sights in Athens. Our first stop was outside the Greek Parliament building to see the changing of the guard. This is an ancient greek tradition where soldiers put on skirts and tights, and stomp around in heavy shoes :-)

Our next stop was at the Olympic stadium. Built for the first Modern Olympic games in 1896, the stadium is constructed mostly of white marble, and can seat 69,000 spectators.

Below are a few more views of our Athens tour, including the magnificent columns of the Temple of Zeus, standing in the shadow of the Acropolis.
